At the heart of Presbyterian tradition is the belief that God calls people to serve using their gifts. As a church, we live this out through a representative style of leadership. The session is a board composed of members tasked with leading the ministry of the church on behalf of the people. They are called elders and they are elected by the congregation to serve in three-year terms.
Serving as an elder is an experience in spiritual leadership and growth. The Book of Order charges elders to “exercise leadership, government, spiritual discernment, and discipline and have responsibilities for the life of a congregation as well as the whole church.” These individuals in the church act in faithful and wise use of their talents and energy to support the nurture, education, mission, fellowship, and stewardship of the church and its resources.
Our session meets the third Wednesday of every month (except July) at 6:15 p.m. in the Session Room of the Pleune-Mobley Center.
