Martha Makela, Coordinator of Children's Music Ministry / Director of Hallelujah Choir

Martha joined the Children’s Music Ministry in 2004. In addition to being the Coordinator, she also directs the Hallelujah Choir (1st and 2nd grade). She has been on faculty as a Music Specialist at the Highland Presbyterian Church Nursery and Day School for over 28 years. She believes in the philosophy of hands on, child centered, and play-based learning, and brings a rich understanding of Orff Schulwerk to our music ministry. She remarks that “Music is a vehicle for joyful exploration with our treasured young. Music draws us together. It is community-building, and it is a lovely way to come closer to God. Music helps us learn to pray and rejoice!”
