Local Mission

Highland Presbyterian Church works with and supports four main organizations in Louisville:

Kentucky Refugee Ministries (KRM)

Kentucky Refugee Ministries (KRM) is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing resettlement services to refugees through faith- and agency-based co-sponsorship to promote self-sufficiency and successful integration into our community. KRM is committed to offering access to community resources and opportunities and to promoting awareness of diversity for the benefit of the whole community. Each year, Highland co-sponsors two refugee families to walk alongside them through the resettlement process.

Highlands Community Ministries (HCM)

Highland Community Ministries (HCM) is an ecumenical non-profit organization uniting the efforts and energies of 24 local congregations to support and empower our Highlands neighbors in need. They serve residents in zip codes 40204 and 40205 and, as a proud part of the Association of Community Ministries and the sister ministries it represents, we work to create positive change for Louisville at large. Highland participates in their ministries through a number of efforts like the Thanksgiving Baskets and Angel Gift Tree.

Habitat for Humanity

Habitat for Humanity is a nonprofit, ecumenical Christian housing ministry. They build simple and affordable homes in partnership with those in need of decent housing. Habitat sells houses to qualified families at no profit with zero interest mortgage loans. Each summer, five Presbyterian Churches from the Mid-Kentucky Presbytery come together for a Presbyterian Build.

The Cabbage Patch

The Cabbage Patch has a mission to equip and empower at-risk children, youth, and their families, to be self-sufficient by helping them maximize their economic, educational, emotional, moral, physical, social, and spiritual potential. Highland has been a long-time supporter of their work through financial giving, volunteer hours, and historically holding at least two seats on their Board of Directors.
