I’m New Here

Join us for Worship

We meet weekly for worship on Sundays at 11:00 a.m. Christian Education for all ages is available at 9:30 a.m. Four times a year, a Sunday evening service is prepared and led by students and youth of the church.

Getting Help When You Visit

If you have questions or need support finding your way, ask one of the greeters or ushers near the entrances to the sanctuary.

What to Wear

We invite you to come as you are. You’ll find a range of attire among worshipers.

Parking

While street parking is available, we encourage people to use the church’s parking lot located along Eastern Star Road off of Highland Avenue.

Entering the Church Building

There are several entrances to the church. Access to the sanctuary is available near the corner of Cherokee Rd and Highland Avenue along either street. You may enter the Christian Education building by using the stairway at Highland Avenue and Eastern Star Rd.

Accessibility

A ramp is located adjacent to the Highland Ave. entrance into the sanctuary. A designated wheelchair space is located inside the sanctuary. It is in the sixth row from the front, on the aisle on the baptismal font side. Ushers will direct you further if needed.

Coffee and Fellowship at 10:30

Our community gathers in the Fellowship Hall to share conversation with one another before and after the 11 a.m. worship service. Highland Presbyterian Church proudly serves Fair Trade coffee and teas as part of responsibility to the environment and people.

Nursery and Child Care from 9:15 to 12:15

Childcare is available on Sunday mornings from 9:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. and during any extra worship services throughout the year. We offer a safe, loving, and welcoming environment for all children and their parents. If you have questions or concerns, please, contact the front office via the online form or 502-451-2910.

During worship services, preschoolers and kindergartners are offered Bible Buddies, an alternative for those who do not wish to remain in worship. Children begin in worship with their parents, then come out for Bible Buddies following the “Time for Young Disciples.” Bible Buddies is located upstairs in the chapel. If you walk up the staircase next to the choir room, in the hallway outside the fellowship hall, the first door on your right is the chapel. Bible Buddies is led by dedicated church members. The children hear a story, sing, dance, have a snack, pray, and play.

We Want to Welcome You

During services a folder is passed for all worshipers to sign. We encourage everyone to leave ways for us to be in touch to offer a more personal welcome during the week. Your email, phone number and address are helpful to do so. We won’t share your information with anyone; its use is limited to our ministry of hospitality. We don’t ask visitors to be identified in any public way, but we do want to extend a warm welcome to all visitors and guests.

Offering

Toward the end of the service there is a time when we dedicate our offerings. This means money, time, and the work of our hands and hearts. While people who are a committed part of the church as members or friends regularly offer financial support to what God is doing through the work of Highland Presbyterian Church, please don’t feel obligated as a visitor. If you are visiting, we consider your presence with us your offering and we are thankful for your presence. If you still want to give, please know that you are supporting our ministries in Louisville and beyond.

Communion and Baptism

The Sacrament of the Lord’s Supper or Communion is celebrated monthly, typically the first Sunday of the month. Gluten-free options are always available. The Sacrament of Baptism is offered to people of all ages who request it. For infant Baptism, one of the parents must be a member of the church. To inquire about Baptism, contact one of the pastoral staff. To inquire about joining, contact the church office.
