Sunday, December 15 at 12:00pm — Carol Sing and Potluck
Get into the holiday spirit with a caroling and sandwich/wrap potluck in the Fellowship Hall following worship! Bring a plate of sandwiches, wraps, and/or cookies to share. This is an informal time of fellowship and fun. We will have folks available to play instruments as we choose our favorite Christmas carols to sing. Come make a joyful noise together!
Friday, December 20 at 6:00pm — Longest Night Service
A quiet, shorter worship service offered in recognition that even in a festive season, all of us also carry burdens and need rest and stillness. As we near the longest night of the year, poet Jane Kenyon reminds us that “God does not leave us comfortless / so let evening come.”
Sunday, December 22 at 11:00am — Fourth Sunday of Advent Worship with Children’s Christmas Pageant
On this last Sunday before Christmas, our young people will lead us in worship as they proclaim the good news that Jesus is born in Bethlehem. That hopeful story will be supported by music from the congregation, and from our children, and from the Youth Choir.
Tuesday, December 24 — Christmas Eve Worship Services
4:30pm — Lessons and Carols
We hear and sing the promise of the Messiah and the birth of Jesus through scripture and song, continuing in the historic Lessons and Carols tradition from 19th century England. Come make joyful noise with brass, timpani, organ, choir, and bells. Join the Christmas story and be a part of our community of Christ. Be sure not to miss the Christmas Preludes at 4:00pm: an opportunity to find your place and listen to the people of our church celebrate the season with sound, spirit, and love.
Childcare will be offered starting at 4:00pm.
9:00pm — Candlelight and Communion
Take part in this joyfully reverent celebration of the wondrous gift of Emmanuel — God with us in Jesus Christ. Traditionally, the first service of Christmastide begins with the eve of the Nativity of the Lord. Come encounter the mystery of the incarnation through scripture and word, rejoice in Jesus’ birth in song with strings, piano, and organ, and be the body of Christ sharing communion and candlelight.
There is no childcare for this later service.
